Date & Time
In the first part of the Date & Time, Kaye talks about what it was like growing up for him. He remembers growing up when his parents stopped speaking Japanese to him. That was his first language and as a little kid his parents spoke Japanese to him and when they stopped he truly wondered why. He mentions how he misses and somewhat longs for his family to still speak in their mother language. He doesn’t understand how one day a family can just stop speaking in their mother language and begin to alter what they say to just english. My biggest takeaways are from the Beginning, Middle, & End Chapter because the author pulls from all different parts of his life. This made me think about the fact that when you meet someone the stories you tell them don’t have to be in chronological order.
